The site takes its name, opens accounts and speaks German

The site is called Gangstalking.fr
The working name “Phenomenon” is gone everywhere: the home banner, the tab titles, the footer and the sender of the emails. The word “phenomenon” stays wherever it talks about the subject — the people of the phenomenon mentioned in religions — it just doesn't name the site anymore.

A German version
After French, English and Portuguese, the site also exists in German: the texts, the illustrations that carry words, and the page addresses. Four languages, picked from the top right.

Creating an account now goes through an email confirmation
When you sign up, an email arrives with a link valid for 24 hours. Until it's opened, the account isn't active. That's what keeps made-up addresses out, and therefore throwaway accounts off the forum.

The confirmation email arrives in your language
It was written in French for everyone, and its link pointed to the browser's language rather than the site's. The message and the link now follow the language the account was created in.

Signing in without a confirmed email now says why
The site answered “Wrong username or password”, which sent you looking in the wrong place. It now explains that the address has to be confirmed first, and offers a button to send the email again.

Switching language on the roadmap and the forum no longer leads to a missing page
These pages keep a single address, with no /fr or /en, so their links stay shareable. The language picker added the language to the address anyway, and landed on a 404. It now switches the language in place.

The forum speaks all four languages
A good share of the forum's labels were written in French straight in the code: “Create a topic”, “Reply”, “Topic title”, the tooltips on messages. They're translated, and dates now display in the local format.

Audience measurement with no cookie and no tracker
Knowing which pages get read, without dropping a cookie, without an identifier that follows you from one visit to the next, and without a consent banner. Anything account-related — sign-ups, confirmations — is counted on the server, without ever sending an email address or a nickname.

Story addresses are translated
A story read in Portuguese opened at /pt/historias/la-religion, with a piece of French left in the address. Each story now has its own address in each language, and links already shared under the old address redirect to the new one.
